Dr. Mark Cioffi is a seasoned training and standardization consultant with years of experience in supporting best practice training initiatives in the Federal, Defense and Industry sectors. Among many endeavors Dr. Cioffi is currently serving as the Vice President for Commercial Operations for PilotEdge, LLC—a “serious gaming” technology company that is developing new and innovative immersive aviation training environments for gamers and professionals alike.
Dr. Cioffi has logged thousands of hours of flight time as a pilot in both commercial and military operations, and has served in as an instructor and examiner for various Air Force platforms including the HH-3, CH-3E, UH-1N and C-141B aircraft. As a retired U.S. Air Force pilot who served in both the enlisted and officer ranks, along with his experience as a current Delta Airlines First Officer, Dr. Cioffi brings years of expertise in implementing and assessing crew coordination, decision-making, risk mitigation and standardized training constructs across both rotary-wing and fixed wing platforms with both a military and commercial civilian perspective.
As an Operations officer for the C-141B replacement squadron he not only taught and trained pilots, but also had the additional responsibilities for management and oversight of over 100 instructors covering 17 different training programs with an annual training budget of over $20 Million dollars and 10,000 flight hours per year. Dr. Cioffi started his professional teaching career at the Army Command and General Staff College in Ft. Leavenworth, KS while teaching Air Mobility Operations to senior and midlevel military officers. Dr. Cioffi continues instructing to this day as an Adjunct Assistant Professor for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He teaches aircraft accident investigation to both under graduate and graduate level students and advises on course curriculum for the university.
A few of Dr. Cioffi’s prior projects include Program Management and consulting services for the development of the U.S. Marine Corps C-130J Hercules curriculum, Program Management and Instructional System Design (ISD) for the MV-22 Osprey Training and Readiness (T&R) Manual, and senior consultant services for policies, principles and procedures assessment for agency-wide Department of Veteran’s Affairs Training initiatives.
Dr. Cioffi specializes in analysis and assessment of training Best Practice standards, and brings a particular strength in assessing, developing, implementing and maximizing simulation training environments in order to increase operational impact while simultaneously reducing overall risk and cost.
Dr. Cioffi holds a Doctorate (PhD) of Business Administration, and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the PMI Institute. He currently resides in Spring Hill, FL.
