"His [Matthew’s] presentation was both informative and entertaining. He provided information is essential to our HEMS practice. Clearly, he has extensive knowledge and experience on this subject. He shared so much information from various scenarios and was able to relate them to our practice. The crews enjoyed the day and were able to leave that day better equipped with CRM skills and an experience unlike any other training they had ever had in the past.

Matt was the reason this year’s training was a success. He should be commended on his expertise and willingness to share this with our crews.”

"Matt’s a charismatic leader who’s ability to work with people is superb. He intrinsically understands and thus is able to motivate those that work with him to do their best. A real pleasure to have work with. Enjoyed watching this officer grow. This, along with strong piloting skills, made him one of the best aviators we had in the squadron. I would actively seek him out to work with again; I want him on my team!”

"I first met Matt in Afghanistan right after 9-11, and have had the good fortune of working with him over the course of many years—both in uniform and out. I have watched Matt hone his skills as a leader, speaker, and mentor during that time. Through his experiences a former Marine Corps helicopter pilot, and Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI)—along with the many lessons he has drawn from his experience as an aero-medevac pilot—Matt has continually refined his ability to convey real world experiences into meaningful lessons learned for anyone operating in a high tempo/high demand environments. A great entertainer, Matt is also extremely savvy on how to bring out the best in his audiences; leading them to draw from their own experiences and shared knowledge in order to enhance decision making within their own organizations.

"Just wanted to say thank you for last night’s training event! The feedback from the attendees was outstanding! Our firefighters were intrigued with the presentation. As the Training Officer for the Galax Volunteer Fire Department, my take away was the need to ramp up our scenario based, pressurized, training. The more realistic the training, the more likely a positive outcome will occur for us on the fireground. I also better recognize the need to pass along near misses and calls of interest to our newest members. Additionally, I see the importance of passing along my/our failures in an effort to learn from them and keep them from happening again. I/we need to swallow that pride to keep the next brother alive. Thank you again for that realization and the great presentation last night!
